West Campus, K-9 & Motors

Lieutenant Chad Martinka serves with The University of Texas at Austin Police Department, where he oversees the West Campus Unit, K-9 Unit, and Motors Unit. In this role, he works closely with campus and community partners throughout the West Campus area to support public safety and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. He also oversees training for the department's K-9 and Motors units, supporting their continued operational readiness.

A lifelong Central Texas resident, Lieutenant Martinka earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University in 1997. He began his law enforcement career with the Austin Police Department in 1998, where he served for more than two decades before retiring as a Sergeant in 2021. He joined The University of Texas at Austin Police Department in May 2023, bringing more than 25 years of law enforcement experience to his current role.
