Jeremy Benoit serves as the Assistant Chief of Police for The University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD), where he provides executive oversight of police operations, criminal investigations, emergency communications, special events, professional staffing, and administrative services.

Assistant Chief Benoit has more than twenty years of law enforcement experience serving with the Austin Police Department, Capital Metro Police Department, Hays County Sheriff's Office, and UTPD. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in patrol operations, criminal investigations, Internal Affairs, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), emergency communications, and executive leadership. He also served as a Task Force Officer and Supervisor with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, working alongside local, state, and federal partners to investigate violent crime and criminal organizations. His experience includes conducting and supervising complex criminal and administrative investigations, managing critical incidents, coordinating large-scale special events, and leading specialized enforcement operations.

Assistant Chief Benoit holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University–Commerce and is a Texas Master Peace Officer. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Session 98, and has completed advanced leadership, investigative, emergency management, and public safety training programs throughout his career.
