Lieutenant Heather Roland serves with The University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD), where she oversees the Investigations Unit, Recruiting, and Background Investigations. In this role, she provides leadership for critical public safety operations while supporting the department’s commitment to professional service, organizational excellence, and community engagement.

Lieutenant Roland has eight years of service with UTPD and previously served with law enforcement agencies in Missouri, bringing a diverse range of operational and leadership experience to her current role. Prior to her promotion to lieutenant, she served as UTPD’s Field Training Coordinator, where she managed the department’s Field Training Program and played a key role in developing and mentoring newly hired police officers.

Lieutenant Roland is committed to advancing public safety through effective leadership, strategic planning, employee development, and operational success. She focuses on building strong teams, improving organizational processes, and supporting the professional growth of those she serves alongside.
