Emergency Communications Manager
Ann Treffer manages 9-1-1 Emergency Communications for The University of Texas at Austin Police Department. She oversees a team of public safety telecommunicators who connect the university community with public safety and university resources 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Her responsibilities include maintaining seamless daily operations, supporting technology recommendations and deployments, hiring and training personnel, promoting employee health and wellness, and serving as UTPD's liaison to coordinate emergency communications with local and state public safety agencies.
A dedicated public safety professional, Ann has more than 25 years of experience in 9-1-1 emergency communications and dispatching first responders. Prior to joining UTPD, she served as a Public Safety Telecommunicator with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and as a Communications Supervisor with the Round Rock Police Department.
Ann holds a Master Telecommunicator License and advanced National Emergency Number Association (NENA) certifications, including Emergency Number Professional (ENP) and Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP). She has also served as a member of the Capital Area Incident Management Team (CAIMT) and the CenTex Incident Management Team, deploying to local, state, and national incidents, including Hurricane Alex (2010), the Possum Kingdom Wildfire (2011), and Hurricane Irene (2011).
