Citizen Police Academy

The University of Texas Police Department seeks to foster a positive relationship with each and every member of the diverse community we serve. To that end, our Community Outreach Unit focuses on that its mission through:

  • Timely and accurate dissemination of information to students, faculty and staff
  • Cultivation of dialogue between the police department and the Longhorn Community
  • Coordinating crime prevention presentations and programs such as “Coffee with a Cop”

The University of Texas Police Department seeks to find innovative ways to prevent crime. Some of the services the Community Outreach Unit offers include:

  • Community meetings
  • Active aggressor preparation and defense courses
  • Prompt follow-up on false alarms and maintenance concerns
  • Safety programs for persons and offices
  • Free engravers for identification of personal property
  • Security surveys
  • Alcohol awareness programs
