Jimmy Moore

Lieutenant

Lieutenant Jimmy Moore serves with The University of Texas at Austin Police Department and brings approximately 25 years of law enforcement experience, all with UTPD. He began his career as a security officer before becoming a sworn police officer and rising through the ranks of the organization.

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Moore has developed extensive experience in patrol operations, field training, officer development, and leadership. He has worked closely with academy personnel, university stakeholders, community partners, and department leadership to support the professional growth of officers and strengthen relationships across the campus community. His leadership philosophy emphasizes education, mentorship, accountability, and service-oriented policing.

Lieutenant Moore’s extensive institutional knowledge and long-standing commitment to UTPD provide him with a unique perspective on public safety and community engagement.

A proud departmental legacy, Lieutenant Moore followed in the footsteps of his father, Jimmy Moore Sr., who retired from UTPD as a Sergeant. Having been connected to the department since childhood, Lieutenant Moore has developed a lifelong appreciation for the UTPD community and remains dedicated to building strong partnerships across the university.
