On-Campus Incident - Assault (2200 block of Guadalupe)

Summary:

On Monday, January 2, 2023, around 12:59 p.m., UTPD Officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred near the 2200 block of Guadalupe Street. A UT-affiliated person advised that she was walking towards Guadalupe Street, when a female suspect hit the back of her head with a closed fist. The suspect then continued to make threatening comments and boarded a city bus. The victim did not require medical treatment. 

UTPD officers quickly arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. There is no ongoing threat to the community. 
 

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION - Aggravated Assault (2400 block of Guadalupe)

Summary:

On Monday, October 10, 2022, around 8:51 a.m., UTPD officers responded to the western side of the 2400 block of Guadalupe Street for an assault that was no longer in progress. Officers promptly arrived on scene and detained the suspect. Upon speaking with the victim (UT-affiliated), officers learned the suspect brandished a knife and arrested the suspect (non-UT affiliated) for aggravated assault. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is not related to any recent assaults on or near UT Campus.

October 5, 2022

On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, around 11:11 a.m., a UT staff member was groped by an unknown male suspect in the 2400 block of Guadalupe St. Witnesses advised that the suspect left on foot, traveling northbound on Guadalupe Street.

Around 12:26 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) requested UTPD’s assistance. UTPD officers quickly responded to the scene and searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION: Aggravated Assault (2300 block of Guadalupe Street)

September 29, 2022

Around 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, UTPD officers were flagged down near the 2300 block of Guadalupe Street. A man was arguing with a woman and her partner when the male suspect pulled out a weapon. Upon investigating, officers located a knife and immediately arrested the suspect for aggravated assault. 

Neither the suspect nor victims are UT-affiliated. No injuries were reported. There is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.

Aggravated Assault (JJ Pickle Research Campus)

Sept. 28, 2022

Summary:

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, around 11:35 a.m., two UT staff members were walking outside a building on the JJ Research Pickle Research Campus when they saw a man acting suspiciously. Witnesses advised that the man displayed a knife and walked towards them. The employees retreated into the building and the suspect left the area, walking south on Burnet Rd. UTPD officers immediately responded to search the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported. UTPD Detectives are actively investigating this incident.

Summary:

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, around 11:35 a.m., two UT employees were walking outside a building on the JJ Research Pickle Research Campus when they saw a man acting suspiciously. Witnesses advised that the man displayed a knife and walked towards them. The employees retreated into the building and the suspect left the area, walking south on Burnet Rd. UTPD officers immediately responded to search the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported. UTPD Detectives are actively investigating this incident.

NON-UT AFFILIATED INDECENT ASSAULT (Moody Center)

Sept. 14, 2022

Summary:

On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, around 9:54 p.m., UTPD officers responded to a fight in progress while working a concert at the Moody Center. When officers arrived, they located a female victim, who stated a man punched and groped her. Security personnel witnessed the incident and detained the male suspect. Officers arrested the suspect and transported him to Travis County Jail for Assault and Indecent Assault. Neither the victim nor suspect are UT affiliated.

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION: Assist Outside Agency (Indecent Assault)

August 23, 2022

Around midnight on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, UTPD responded to a report of indecent assault in the 400 block of W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. An unknown male subject came up behind a UT student and grabbed her breasts. After the indecent assault occurred, the student ran back to her residence and contacted police. UTPD officers immediately responded to search the area, but the suspect had already fled the scene. No weapons were used and no physical injuries were reported.

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION

August 1, 2022

On Monday, August 1, 2022, around 2:32 a.m., a woman flagged down UTPD officers and advised that she had recently been assaulted by a male subject near a bus stop located in the 1500 block of Trinity Street. Due to the location of where the assault occurred, UTPD notified Austin Police Department (APD) and they are the lead agency on this case. APD is investigating this incident as a Robbery by Threat, incident #22-2130155.

OFF-CAMPUS: Assault by Threat (2400 block of San Antonio)

July 19, 2022

Summary:

Around 8:56 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, UTPD was alerted of an incident that occurred in the 2400 block of San Antonio Street. UTPD officers responded to a suspicious person call, and upon investigation concluded that an assault by threat occurred after a man verbally threatened a UT staff member. The male suspect fled the scene and officers were unable to locate the suspect.
