Burglary of a Building (2200 block of Leona Street)

Sept. 12, 2022

Summary:

On Monday, around 8:18 a.m., UTPD received a report regarding a burglary that occurred in the 2200 block of Leona Street. Upon investigation, detectives determined that the incident occurred on Sunday, September 11, 2022, around 12:35 a.m. An unknown male suspect broke into a construction office trailer and exited with stolen property. The building was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported. 

Burglary (Dobie Twenty21) - UTPD Officers Arrest Suspect

UPDATE: UTPD detectives investigated and were able to positively identify the burglary suspect.  Officers successfully located the suspect and took him into custody. He was charged with Burglary of a Building. 

Attempted Burglaries

Oct. 6, 2021

Summary:

At 8:50 p.m., UTPD responded to a report of attempted burglaries at Brackenridge Apartments, 3501 Lake Austin Boulevard. An employee there stated that they witnessed a person taking off a window screen and pushing up on the window, trying to open it.

The employee also noticed screens had been removed off windows to other apartment units. One of those units was occupied and the window was opened without the occupant's knowledge. 

Officers are on scene searching for the suspect.

Burglary / Indecent Assault Arrest

April 29, 2021

Summary:

On April 29, UTPD filed charges against a former UT student for burglary of a habitation and indecent assault after investigating an anonymous report of possible burglaries involving sexual deviant behavior at Jester Residence Hall.

Through its investigation, UPTD verified the suspect made entry into unlocked rooms and performed indecent acts while the rooms were unoccupied.

UTPD has eight known victims at this time.

Vehicle Burglaries

Jan. 19, 2021

Summary:

At 5:12 a.m. on January 19, UTPD responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the Trinity Garage (TRG), located at 1815 Trinity Street. 

While investigating, UTPD officers located a total of six vehicles that were broken into by the same suspect. 

Suspect Description:

The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a green hat, green jacket, and tan pants. Officers checked the area, but the suspect was not located. 

Burglary Series

Oct. 25, 2020

Summary:

On October 25, UTPD responded to a report of a burglary of a dorm room at San Jacinto Residence Hall. Upon arrival, it was discovered that at least six UT student dorm rooms were burglarized.

Previously, on October 24, UTPD responded to one report of a burglary in San Jacinto Residence Hall.

Burglary Arrest

July 13, 2020

Summary:

At 4:45 p.m., the Austin Police Department alerted UTPD to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress at a private property at 2400 Rio Grande Street.

A non-UT affiliate told officers they witnessed a man breaking into a car. The man then ran off, eventually entering the UT campus. UTPD arrested him at 24th and Speedway and turned him over to the custody of APD.

Burglary - 02/24/20

Feb. 24, 2020

Summary:

At 10:56 a.m., UTPD responded to a report of a burglary at the Health Transformation Building (HTB). The reporting party stated that money was taken out of a locked drawer in a secured office space. The crime is believed to have occurred sometime between the afternoon of Friday, February 21st and Monday, February 24th.

Burglary - 02/24/20

Feb. 24, 2020

Summary:

At 8:21 a.m., UTPD received a report of a burglary at the 2400 Nueces Apartments. The reporting party stated that items were stolen from a storage corridor in the parking garage of the building sometime between the afternoon of Friday, February 21st and Monday, February 24th.

Burglary - 01/11/20

Jan. 11, 2020

Summary:

At 1:30 p.m., the Austin Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at a non-campus building at 2807 Rio Grande Street. The incident is believed to have occurred at 2:30 a.m. No occupants were inside at the time.
