On-Campus Incident - Robbery/Assault

March 15, 2023

Summary:

Around 1:42 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, UTPD officers responded to the lobby of the University Club at 700 Clyde Littlefield after a UT-afilliated person was assaulted and robbed. The victim said she drove a vehicle that was loaned by the suspect's (Non UT-Affiliated) ex-boyfriend to work on campus. The suspect confronted the victim and as she turned to walk away, the suspect then punched her in the face and took her cell phone. The victim refused medical treatment. Both the suspect and victim knew each other.

Off-Campus Incident - Assist Outside Agency (Robbery)

Jan. 31, 2023

Summary:

Around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the Austin Police Department (APD) alerted UTPD to a report of a robbery that occurred at the Chase Bank in the 2500 block of Guadalupe Street. A suspect approached a teller and handed them a note stating he had a bomb. The suspect fled and was last seen running Northbound in the 2500 block of Nueces Street.

No injuries were reported. There is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT: Assist Outside Agency - Attempted Aggravated Robbery (24th and Guadalupe)

Nov. 30, 2022

Around 3:45 p.m., on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, three people (UT-affiliated) advised they were walking near 24th and Guadalupe Street when a man approached them and demanded money. When they walked away from the man, the victims realized he was armed with a knife and were able to safely get away from the suspect. The victims were not physically harmed during the incident / no injuries were reported.

ON-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION: Attempted Robbery (Jester West)

Oct. 9, 2022

Summary:

Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2022, UTPD officers responded to Jester West regarding an assault. After speaking with the victim (non-UT affiliated), it was determined that he was a victim of an attempted robbery. No weapons were used. The victim stated that two male suspects assaulted him and tried to take his backpack. The victim was able to safely get away with his belongings and advised that the suspects fled the scene on foot, running west on 21st Street towards Guadalupe Street.

OFF-CAMPUS INCIDENT NOTIFICATION

August 1, 2022

On Monday, August 1, 2022, around 2:32 a.m., a woman flagged down UTPD officers and advised that she had recently been assaulted by a male subject near a bus stop located in the 1500 block of Trinity Street. Due to the location of where the assault occurred, UTPD notified Austin Police Department (APD) and they are the lead agency on this case. APD is investigating this incident as a Robbery by Threat, incident #22-2130155.

Aggravated Robbery - UTPD Officers arrested suspect

June 16, 2022

Summary:

Around 2:28 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, UTPD responded to a report of an aggravated robbery at the Target located in the 2000 block of Guadalupe Street. A male suspect was approached by Target staff while stealing. The subject was armed with a knife and left the store. Detectives were able to locate the suspect upon reviewing Halo cameras. Officers approached the suspect, and arrested him within ten minutes of the call. The suspect was arrested for aggravated robbery, evading and resisting. There is no ongoing threat to the public at this time. 

Strong-Arm Robbery (no weapon), Off Campus

December 3, 2021

Approximately 3:13 am on December 3, 2021, the Austin Police Department alerted UTPD to a report of strong-arm robbery with use of physical force (no weapon) somewhere in the area of Harris Park and Park Place.

APD was with a non-UT affiliated female who said she was assaulted after meeting a friend at the PAC. She was unclear of the exact location; she said the assault happened at her parked vehicle. The female, provided the following information:

Nov. 4, 2021

Summary:

At 12 a.m., UTPD and Austin Police responded to a report of a robbery near 100 East 27th Street. A UT student reported that at around 11:30 p.m. on 11/3, a suspect sprayed them with pepper spray and stole their cell phone at Adams-Hemphill Neighborhood Park. Officers searched for the suspect, but were unable to locate him.

Suspect Description:

The suspect is described as an Asian male, 5'10," in his mid 20s, with curly hair, wearing a puffy jacket, and N95 mask.
