Terroristic Threat Arrest

Summary:

On the morning of November 7th, UTPD arrested a man identified as Matthew Joel Dominguez for making terroristic threats against the School of Social Work.

Austin Police report that on November 6th, Dominguez drove to a psychiatric treatment center requesting help. He was then transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where he expressed threats to harm himself and threats to harm those within The University of Texas School of Social Work. Dominguez was released from the hospital overnight. Upon notification of his release, UTPD immediately began directed patrols around the School of Social Work and searched for Dominguez on campus. Dominguez was located in Pflugerville at his residence at 7:38 a.m. on the 7th. He was arrested for the felony charge of terroristic threat with a bond of $100,000.

UTPD is grateful to have had the opportunity to intervene and prevent potential harm to our community.

Though Dominguez remains in custody, UTPD will continue to closely monitor the Social Work buildings. If at any time you notice anything suspicious, or if you feel unsafe, call 911.
