UT Safety Week & National Night Out 2012

The UT Student Government and The UT Police Department are pleased to announce the beginning of UT's Safety Week and National Night Out activities. See the list of activities and locations then come out and join us for a full week of fun and informative activities regarding safety, security, health and wellness.

Saturday, September 29

National Night Out at University Apartments, Jasper Park, 4 pm - 7 pm — talk to UTPD about concerns and questions about the safety in this area. UT Longhorn Cheer and Pom Squad, International Food Cooking Contest, Chicken Dance.

Monday, October 1

Fire Safety and Burn House, East Mall and Speedway, 10:30 am - 2 pm — Watch how quickly items burn in a small space and learn how to keep it from happening to you! Fire extinguisher Training.

Tuesday, October 2

Shattered Dreams, On Speedway near East Mall, 10:45 am — drunk driving? See what could happen if you choose to get behind the wheel!

National Night Out, Gregory Plaza, 12 pm - 4 pm — free food and drinks, photo booth, free T-shirts, games and prizes.

Residence Hall Night Out, Whitis, Jester, and Waller Creek Area, 8 pm - 10 pm — meet your neighbors and hall mates at your area party!

Jester's version of Alamo Draft House Movie Quote Along, Located in the Spanish Oaks Terrace outside of Jester 8-10 pm

Wednesday, October 3

Cop Day, Speedway, 11 am - 2 pm — meet officers from UTPD, Austin Police, SWAT Team, Fire Department, EMS, and many more!

Murder Mysteries and engraving of personal equipment

Thursday, October 4

RAD Self-Defense, Gregory Plaza, 11 am - 2 pm — learn skills from the best on how to defend yourself in a scary situation.

Dinner with the Chiefs, Texas Union 3.304 Quadrangle Room, 5-7 pm — meet our Police Department chiefs and chat with them about safety, security, and other campus issues while enjoying dinner.

Block Party (celebrate Safety & Security), Spanish Oaks from 6-9 pm
