T.S. Painter Hall, 103 West 24th Street
Occurred on 03-23-06 at approximately 2:20 PM.
Arson: An, as of yet, unidentified student set fire to some toilet paper that had been laid out across some student chairs for a class room demonstration. The fire damaged two chairs and a students coat. Loss value: $600.00.
Crime Prevention Tip:
Having to bring this up is concerning enough, but fire is a dangerous thing. A small fire can turn into a big fire in just a few seconds. Fortunately, in this case, property damage was the only result. That being said, arson resulting in property damage alone is still a felony offense.
Occurred on 03-24-06 at 2:17 AM.
Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Officer was flagged down by a UT student, who was under the age of 21. The student thought the police car was a taxi cab. The student was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages, but was not under the influence of alcohol to the point she was a physical endangerment to herself or others.
Occurred on 03-24-06 at 3:40 AM.
Driving While Intoxicated: A UT student was stopped after being observed stopping at four different intersections with flashing yellow lights, speeding and finally running a red light. During an investigation for driving while intoxicated, the student complained her contact lens fell out. The student looked on the ground picked-up a piece of broken auto glass and started to put it in her eye as if it were her contact lens. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she had been driving while intoxicated.
Crime Prevention Tip:
Dont drink and drive - the least of your worries could be poking your eye out.
