Occurred on 12-19-05 between 11:20 AM and 4:16 PM.
Theft: A Sprint cellular flip telephone and a small red wallet were stolen from inside a women's restroom after being left behind. Over the course of several hours prior to the telephone service being turned off 10 unauthorized telephone calls had been made. Loss value: $100.00
Parking Lot 104, 1900 Block N. IH-35
Occurred on 12-19-05 between 9:00 AM and 2:45 PM.
Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A green Samsonite suitcase containing various items of clothing, a blue Samsonite suitcase containing various items of clothing and a black hanging bag containing three baseball uniforms were stolen after being left unsecured and unattended inside the bed of a brown Ford truck. The former owner told the officer during the investigation that she had checked out of the hotel and did not have any place to put her property. Loss value: $ 900.00.
Crime Prevention Tip:
Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is... Well the thieves found a great place for her luggage and everything else that was inside the suitcases. With so much going on this time of the year, take some time to remove your property from inside your vehicle or in this case from the open bed of your vehicle.
San Jacinto Dormitory, 309 East 21st Street
Occurred between 12-13-05 at 12:01 PM and 12-15-05 at 3:00 PM.
Theft: A red Raleigh 3 speed bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building, south of the main entrance. Loss value: $150.00.
Occurred at various times.
Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 10 alarm calls, 5 unsecured doors, and 1 suspicious activity call between 12-19-05 and 12-20-05.
Crime Prevention Tip of the Day:
Take a few minutes and set up a check list before leaving for this Holiday Season. Make sure that all of your personal property and University property is secured behind a locked office door. If you office or building is equipped with an alarm system take a minute to ensure that the alarm system is turned on prior to you leaving. If you are one of the many leaving to visit friend and family this holiday season check with the Austin Police Department as well as the University Police Department about holiday patrols in your neighborhoods. The UT Police Department provides a holiday patrol for all students and staff members living in UT housing.
