College of Business Administration, 2110 Speedway

Occurred on 12-03-05 at 5:00 PM.

Theft: A black HP computer was stolen from inside a backpack after it was left unattended inside a fourth floor class room for 10 minutes. Loss value: $700.00.

100 Block West 21st Street

Occurred on 12-05-05 at 2:30 AM.

Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer observed a subject moving bicycles around in the bike racks, pulling on locks. When stopped the subject stated that he was "Just shopping for a bike." The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and escorted from campus.

Crime Prevention Tip:

Just 19 shopping days left for the Holidays. As we can see, even at 2:30 in the morning thieves are out looking for gifts. Unsecured bicycles, improperly secured bicycles, or bicycles secured with cable locks make for tempting gifts.

400 Block West 27th Street

Occurred on 12-06-05 at 1:22 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated / Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon: A green Pontiac was observed traveling the wrong way on a one way street and narrowly missed striking a marked police vehicle. The driver, Non-UT, was found to have been drinking. After the driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated a search of her vehicle revealed a fully loaded Taurus eight shot revolver.

2400 Block Whitis Ave.

Occurred on 12-05-05 between 2:00 AM and 8:23 AM.

Theft: A white Specialized "Hardrock" mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the south side of Andrews Dormitory. The former owner of the mountain bike stated that the bicycle was not secured, because the lock he was using, was not working properly. Loss value: $300.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

In situations were you find yourself unable to secure your property, take it with you.

4900 Block Guadalupe

Discovered on 12-05-05 at 1:45 PM

Criminal Mischief: The door leading into the archery storage shed was discovered kicked in. No property was reported stolen. Damage loss: Unknown at this time.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 10 alarm calls, 5 unsecured doors, and 3 suspicious activity calls between 12-05-05 and 12-06-05.
