Theft: A grey Palm One Treo 650 cellular telephone was stolen after the telephone became detached from the carrying clip. Several unauthorized calls were made after the telephone was discovered missing. Loss value: $100.00.
Crime Prevention Tip:
Criminals rely on the fact that not all victims will report the loss or theft of their property to the police immediately or even at all. Prompt reporting aids the police in several ways. The police become aware that there is a criminal problem in an area and they (the police) can direct police resources towards that problem. Second prompt reporting gives the police a chance in recovering the victim's property. Many times the Police will recover property that is stolen but has not been reported as such. If the owner is never located the property is then sold at a public auction. To aid in the recovery of stolen property take a minute and engrave your State issued driver's license or State issued ID card number on two surfaces. You can check out and engraver FREE OF CHARGE at your local police department.

Crime Prevention Tip of the Day:
I'm sure that many of you have noticed on the Campus Watch that within the last few weeks there has been an increase in the number of stolen bicycles on campus. Next month many people will be receiving a new bicycle under the tree. Add to that special gift and include a good U-shaped lock. Look at the lock and make sure that the key used is a flat key and not a round or barrel key.
Occurred at various times.
Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 9 alarm calls, 4 unsecured doors, 2 suspicious persons call and 1 medical emergency between 11-21-05 and 11-22-05.
