Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, 1900 Red River

Occurred between 9-20-05 at 4:30 PM and 9-21-05 at 4:00 PM.

Theft: A Guess purse containing a Nokia cell phone, a gift card, a student identification card, $20.00 cash and a wallet was stolen when it was left on the bleachers located on the south side of the pool. Three unauthorized telephone calls were made on the cell phone to an Austin area residence. Loss value: $115.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

You should be familiar with the security features offered in your area and utilize those features. The Swimming Center has lockers available for use. You should use such lockers to store your valuables while you are swimming. A quality keyed pad lock is a preferred method of securing your locker, but a combination pad lock is still better than simply placing your property on the bleachers.

Manor Garage, 2017 Robert Dedman

Occurred on 9-22-05 between 8:30 AM and 7:55 PM.

Leaving the Scene Collision: An unknown white vehicle struck the right front quarter panel of a Honda Civic while the Honda was parked on the 2nd level. White paint was transferred from the striking vehicle to the Honda Civic. The driver of the striking vehicle left the scene without leaving driver information. Repair cost $300.00.

Parlin Hall, #2 South Mall

Occurred between 8-30-05 at 1:15 PM and 9-22-05 at 10:00 AM.

Harassment: A law office has placed several unwanted calls to a staff members 1st floor office in an attempt to collect a debt after the employee advised the law office to stop calling her at work under the stipulations of the Fair Debt Collection Act.

Pharmacy Building, 2409 University

Occurred between 9-20-05 at 7:00 PM and 9-21-05 at 6:30 AM.

Theft: A pair of brown colored, rimless Rayban sunglasses was stolen from a 2nd floor office that is shared by 10 students. Loss value: $100.00.

Crime Prevention Tip:

If you share an office or a dormitory room / apartment, then the security of the area is only as good as every person who has access to the area makes it. In such a situation, you should take precautions to keep your personal property secured in a cabinet or drawer.

1900 San Jacinto

Occurred on 9-23-05 at 4:15 AM.

Driving While Intoxicated / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 counts) / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one way roadway while driving a green Toyota Truck. The driver was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated. There were two passengers inside the vehicle who were both under the age of 21 and found to have consumed alcoholic beverages. One of those students was also found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing burned marijuana residue.

Sanchez Building, 1912 Speedway

Occurred on 9-22-05 at 2:00 PM.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found soliciting photographs of The UT Campus; circa 1930s, on the 3rd floor of the building. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

Sutton Hall, 210 West 21st Street

Discovered on 9-16-05 at 2:10 PM.

Theft: A dongle, which is a piece of computer hardware that sends inputted dimensions to a machine which creates a 3D model based on the dimensions, was from a 1st floor computer lab. Loss value: $350.00.

Occurred at various times.

Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, The University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 alarm calls, 6 unsecured door reports, 3 suspicious activity reports, 1 motor vehicle collision, 1 medical emergency report, 2 welfare concern reports and 1 trashcan fire between 9-22-05 and 9-23-05.
