Colorado Apartments, 2501 Lake Austin Blvd.
Occurred between 5-1-05 at 7:00 p.m. and 5-2-05 at 3:30 p.m.
Theft: A red Schwinn children's bicycle and a black Schwinn children's bicycle were stolen when they were left unsecured outside of building H. Loss value: $200.00.
Crime Prevention Tip
Thieves will steal anything, even a child's bicycle. Never leave your property unsecured.
Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35
Occurred on 5-4-05 at 7:03 p.m.
Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject, who apparently mistook an open parking space for a public restroom, was found with his shorts lowered sufficiently to allow him to conduct his personal business. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.
Physical Plant #3, 1716 Manor Rd
Occurred on 5-4-05 at 1:22 p.m.
Attempted Theft: A non-UT subject entered the furniture shop and began to ask a UT staff member for money. The subject proceeded to ask another staff member for change for a $10.00 bill. The subject told the staff member he needed to get his car out of the impound yard. When the staff member gave the subject a five dollar bill and a five one dollar bills, the subject told the staff member he would be back in "two minutes" with the ten dollar bill. Thinking better of the situation, the staff member followed the subject outside and retrieved his money from the subject. The subject was described as a black male subject in his 30's, approximately 6'3" tall, 220 pounds and wearing a blue and white shirt, blue jeans, a light brown hat and white shoes.
Crime Prevention Tip
We have had several cases involving someone pulling this scam all across campus over the past month or so. If someone approaches you asking for money or for change so they can get their car out of the impound yard, turn them down and call the police department immediately.
Simkins Hall Dormitory, 2501 San Jacinto Blvd.
Occurred on 5-5-05 at 2:09 a.m.
Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Four non-UT subjects were found creating a noise disturbance while sitting at a picnic table on the west side of the dormitory. One of the subjects was found to be in possession of a hand rolled cigarette containing marijuana.
Occurred at various times.
Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 10 alarm calls, 3 unsecured door reports, 3 suspicious activity reports and 1 medical emergency call between 5-4-05 and 5-5-05.
