Andrews Dormitory, 2401 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 3-10-05 at 6:20 a.m.

Warrant Service: A UT student was taken into custody for two outstanding arrest warrants for assault and harassment.

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Building, 200 East Dean Keeton

Occurred on 3-9-05 between 3:00 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.

Burglary of a Coin Operated Machine: The front glass panel was broken out of a food vending machine located by the northeast doors. It appeared as if two "Welch's Fruit Squares" and one "Rice Krispies Treat" had been stolen from the machine. Repair cost: $50.00. Loss value: $3.00.

Moore-Hill Dormitory, 214 East 24th Street

Occurred on 3-6-05 at 9:00 p.m.

Suspicious Activity: An unidentified subject telephoned a 2nd floor resident and advised him he had been pre-approved for a special student Visa credit card. The caller asked the resident if the name and address information that the credit company already had for the student was correct. The caller then proceeded to ask the resident for his parent's name, his permanent address, his cellular telephone number, his date of birth, and his social security number. The resident provided all of the requested information. The resident had not recently made any request for receiving a new credit card.

Parking Lot 41, 2200 Red River

Occurred on 3-9-05 between 7:45 a.m. and 2:34 p.m.

Reckless Damage: The right side door of a parked GMC pick-up truck had damage consistent with a neighboring vehicle door being opened into the GMC's blue door. Black paint was transferred onto the GMC's door. The vehicle parked to the right of the GMC was a black Ford Explorer that had blue paint transfer on the edge of the driver's door. No note of responsibility was left on the struck vehicle's windshield. Repair cost: $200.00.

Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, #2 West Mall

Occurred on 3-9-05 between 10:15 a.m. and 12:20 p.m.

Theft: A brown leather bi-fold wallet containing $10.00 cash and various credit and identification cards was stolen when it was left on a table in a 3rd floor study room. Loss value: $20.00.

Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, #2 West Mall

Occurred on 3-10-05 at 4:29 a.m.

Criminal Trespass / Evading: A UT guard observed a non-UT subject in the basement of the building. The guard knew the subject had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. A police officer was summoned to the area. As the police officer approached the non-UT subject, the subject pushed a chair "into the path" of the police officer and fled on foot. The subject was pursued to the 2300 block of Guadalupe Street where the subject sought refuge by climbing to the roof of a business. The subject was apprehended at that location.

San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street

Occurred between 3-8-05 at 4:30 p.m. and 3-9-05 at 8:30 a.m.

Theft / Criminal Mischief: The north entry sign to the Cypress Bend Store was stolen from the east side of the building. In addition, the letter "B" was broken off the Cypress Bend Store sign on the south exterior side of the building. Repair cost: $125.00. Loss value: $3,500.00.

Waller Creek

Discovered on 3-9-05 at 2:45 p.m.

Graffiti: Purple spray paint was used to write words on a cement support column to a foot bridge in the 2300 block of San Jacinto Street. Removal cost: $40.00.

Walter Webb Hall, 2500 Guadalupe

Discovered on 3-10-05 at 2:35 p.m.

Graffiti: A silver paint pen was used to write words on the east exterior wall of the building. Repair cost: $40.00.

2600 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 3-10-05 at 1:30 a.m.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 counts): A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found swaying back and forth while walking on the east side of the roadway. The student was stopped after she could no longer walk and needed to "squat down." A second UT student, who was a friend of the first student, exited Kinsolving Dormitory and approached the police officer and the first student. Both students were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 8 alarm calls, 3 unsecured door reports, 2 suspicious activity reports, 1 welfare concern report, 2 motor vehicle collisions, 1 lighting survey, and 2 public assist reports between 3-9-05 and 3-10-05.
