Biology Laboratories, 205 West 24th Street

Occurred on 1-7-05 between 8:25 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Theft: A UT staff member left his 3rd floor office unsecured while he walked to the next office down to check for a new fax. While in the office with the fax machine, the staff member noticed a subject walking in the hallway carrying a bag the staff member had left on a table in the rear of his office. When the staff member confronted the subject about the bag, the subject stated he had been in the building to "drop something off." The subject gave the bag containing an iPod back to the staff member and left the area. The subject was described as a black male in his 30's, 5'7" tall, thin build, short hair, mustache, wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and a burnt orange baseball cap. Recovery value: $200.00.

Development Office Building, 2901 North IH-35

Occurred between 1-6-05 at 6:30 p.m. and 1-7-05 at 8:00 a.m.

Graffiti: A blue paint pen was used to write illegible words on the exterior glass door located on the south side of the building. Removal cost: $30.00.

Discovered on 1-7-05 at 9:30 a.m.

Graffiti: An unknown sharp object was used to etch letters on the 1st floor elevator doors.

Ernest Cockrell Jr. Hall, 301 East Dean Keeton

Occurred between 12-30-04 and 1-8-05 at 5:13 p.m.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was used to break a glass window out of an exterior door located on the north side of the building. Repair cost: $200.00.

Frank C. Erwin Special Events Center, 1701 Red River

Occurred on 1-9-05 between 2:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Theft: A black nylon Nine West wallet containing $70.00 cash and various credit and identification cards was stolen from a purse left in an unsecured 1st floor room during a men's basketball game. Loss value: $80.00.

Living Learning Center, 2610 Whitis Avenue

Occurred on 1-7-05 between 9:30 p.m. and 10:10 p.m.

Theft: A white Marin bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to a bicycle rack on the east side of the building. The owner of the bicycle had seen a black male subject standing over her bicycle prior to the theft of the bicycle. The subject was described as being in his 20's, 5'11" tall, 200 pounds and wearing a black knit cap, tan jacket, blue jeans and black boots. Loss value: $100.00.

Moffett Molecular Biology Building, 2500 Speedway

Occurred on 1-7-05 between 12:40 p.m. and 1:50 p.m.

Theft: An Apple Powerbook laptop computer was stolen from an unsecured 3rd floor office. Loss value: $1,500.00.

Parking Lot 104, 1900 North IH-35

Occurred on 1-8-05 at 3:40 p.m.

Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found loitering on the west side of the Parking Lot. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.

2400 San Jacinto Blvd.

Occurred on 1-8-05 at 2:45 a.m.

Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped after disregarding stop signs and driving on the wrong side of the road in a blue Dodge 4-door. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was driving while intoxicated.

2600 Whitis Avenue

Occurred between 1-6-05 at 12 noon and 1-9-05 at 4:10 p.m.

Burglary of Motor Vehicle: The right window was broken out of a 1986 blue Honda Prelude while it was parked near the entrance to Parking Lot 27. The plastic housing to a rear speaker was broken away from the speaker and found on the rear seat. Repair cost: $240.00.

Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 23 alarm calls, 20 unsecured door reports, 9 lighting surveys, 3 public assist calls and 2 suspicious activity reports between 01-7-04 and 01-10-05
