Discovered on 12-10-04 at 2:35 a.m.
Graffiti: Black spray paint was used to write words and red spray paint was used to stencil logos along the brick wall located on the south west portion of the building. Loss value $200.00.
Development Office Building, 2901 North IH-35
Occurred between 12-8-04 at 5:00 p.m. and 12-9-04 at 9:35 a.m.
Graffiti: Black spray paint was used to apply letters onto a UT vehicle parked in the Development Office Building Parking Lot. Loss value $100.00.
Harry Ransom Center, 300 West 21st Street
Occurred on 12-8-04 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Theft: A black Schwinn mountain bicycle was stolen from the bike racks located on the northeast corner of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value $300.00.
Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, 1900 Red River Street
Discovered 12-9-04 at 2:30 p.m.
Grafitti: Grafitti was discovered on a light pole located on the east side of the building.
Parking Lot 80, 1900 Block Red River Street
Occurred on 12-9-04 at 1:20 p.m.
Leaving the Scene Collision: A UT student observed a black Nissan Pathfinder strike a grey Chevy Tahoe then leave the lot without leaving any information on the vehicle that had been struck. The student wrote down the license plate number and left a note for the owner of the struck vehicle. The suspect, identified as a UT student, was located later in the day. Loss value $600.00.
Parking Lot #103, 2100 Block Comal Street
Occurred on 12-10-04 at 3:35 a.m.
Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was found sitting inside a motor vehicle. During the investigating the officer discovered that the subject was confused and did not know where he was. The officer detected that the subject was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to a point he was a physical danger to himself and to others.
Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street
Occurred on 12-9-04 between 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Theft: A black Jansport backpack, a Microeconomics textbook, a Matrix Algebra textbook, and several notebooks were stolen from a 3rd floor study Carroll after being left unattended for a short period of time while the owner stepped outside. Loss value $365.00.
Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, #2 West Mall
Occurred on 12-10-04 between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.
Theft: A Sony Vaio V505D laptop computer was stolen from the 2nd floor student study area while the owner was studying. A witness observed a Hispanic male with short hair, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark baseball cap repeatedly stare at the computer while the owner was there with friends. The witness left then came back and observed the computer gone as well as the suspicious male. Loss value $ $800.00.
Union Building, #4 West Mall
Occurred on 12-9-04 between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Theft: A black and white cloth wallet containing $110.00 in US currency and two credit cards was stolen from inside a closed backpack pocket while the owner slept in a chair on the 3rd floor Loggia. Loss value $115.00.
400 block East 23rd Street
Occurred on 12-9-04 at 10:50 p.m.
Criminal Trespass: UT police officers responded to a disturbance after a non-UT subject attempted to start an altercation by using profanity and making derogatory comments to two UT students. During the investigation officers discovered the subject had received two prior criminal trespass warnings for similar reasons.
Occurred at various times.
Noncriminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, UTPD responded to 11 alarm calls, 2 unsecured door reports, 1 public assist call, 2 fire alarms, and 1 suspicious activity report between 12-9-04 and 12-10-04.
