Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of a Controlled Substance: UTPD officers observed two subjects walking away from a 1996 beige Infiniti that had just collided with the bridge wall at the corner of San Jacinto and 21st Street. After questioning the two subjects (one a UT student, the other a non-UT subject), it was determined that the non-UT subject was the driver, and that he was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point that he was driving while intoxicated. A witness to the accident saw the driver get out of the vehicle with a plastic bag, walk to the nearby creek and leave the plastic bag behind a tree by the creek. When officers found the bag, it was determined to have 32 pills, 27 of which were Valium.
