Anna Hiss Gymnasium, 2501 Wichita

Occurred 10-15-03 at 1:00 p.m. and 10-16-03 at 11:00 a.m.

Criminal Mischief: A blue pen was used to write racially biased statements next to photographs of 30 teaching assistants that were posted on a hallway wall near a 1st floor office. Removal cost: $50.00.

Discovered on 10-16-03 at 1:40 p.m.

Theft: A 5-gallon water cooler was stolen from a secured 1st floor office. Loss value: $200.00.

Kinsolving Dormitory, 2605 Whitis Avenue

Occurred between 10-15-03 at 5:00 p.m. and 10-16-03 at 9:30 a.m.

Theft: A red Next bicycle was stolen while it was secured to a bicycle rack on the west side of the building with a chain and keyed lock. Loss value: $100.00.

Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, 1900 Red River

Occurred on 10-16-03 at 9:30 p.m.

Attempted Theft: A UT student observed a non-UT subject using wire cutters to cut a cable lock from a bicycle that was secured to a bicycle rack on the north side of the building. The subject told the student he had lost his key and asked the student for a hammer or crescent wrench to free his wire cutters as they had become stuck in the cable lock. The student told the subject he would check his car for tools then left the area. An unidentified third party observed the subject attempting to cut the cable lock and placed an anonymous call to the University Police Department.

Perry-Castañeda Library, 101 East 21st Street

Occurred on 10-16-03 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Theft: A key ring with an attached identification card holder containing a credit card was stolen from a 5th floor study carrel while the owner went to the Graduate School of Business, 100 West 21st Street, to eat lunch. Prior to the credit card being cancelled, three unauthorized charges were made at off campus locations. Loss value: $5.00.
