Occurred on 9-26-02 between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Leaving The Scene Collision: A maroon Toyota Camry while parked on level two of the parking garage was struck in the left side panel by an unknown vehicle that left the scene without giving notice. White and grey paint was transferred from the strike vehicle to the Toyota. Repair cost: $400.00.
Jesse H. Jones Communication Center, Building A, 2504A Whitis Avenue
Occurred on 9-25-02 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Theft: A light brown on dark brown leather tri-fold wallet was stolen when it was left in a third floor women's restroom. Wallet contained six dollars cash along with assorted identification and a bank debit card. Loss value: $11.00.
Beauford H. Jester Center East, 203 East 21st Street
Occurred on 9-26-02 at 11:10 p.m.
Criminal Trespass: The smell of burning marijuana was reported coming from a fourth floor dormitory room. When UT Police arrived, a non-UT subject was seen exiting the room. The assigned residents were not found in the room but the non-UT subject did have a key to the room. Subject was not found in possession of any controlled substance. The key was confiscated and the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.
Geology Building, #10 East Mall
Occurred between 9-19-02 at 1:00 p.m. and 9-26-02 at 3:35 p.m.
Theft: A Tenma AC/DC Clamp Meter, Black and Decker Versa Pak cordless screwdriver and a Tenma Line Splitter was stolen from an unsecured room in the basement. Loss value: $125.00.
Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, 1900 Red River
Occurred on 9-26-02 between 8:10 a.m. and 4:50 p.m.
Theft: A silver Montague 21-speed bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack on the northwest side of the building while it was secured to the rack with a chain lock. Loss value: $450.00.
Parking Garage #3, 200 East Martin Luther King Blvd.
Occurred on 9-26-02 at 8:30 p.m.
Possession Of A Controlled Substance And Drug Paraphernalia: Two UT students and a non-UT subject were found sitting on the southeast side of the garage. When approached by a UT Police officer, one of the UT students was seen throwing a five-inch glass smoking-pipe containing marijuana and a baggie of marijuana on the ground.
Parking Garage #6, 105 East 27th Street
Occurred on 9-26-02 at 5:55 p.m.
Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was seen wandering through the bottom level of the garage while making cat call type sounds. When approached, a UT Police officer could detect the smell of an alcoholic beverage on him from five feet away. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.
Peter T. Flawn Academic Center, #2 West Mall
Occurred on 9-26-02 between 4:45 p.m. and 5:05 p.m.
Theft: A UT student was studying in the south lobby area. He asked an unknown Asian female, who was studying near him, if she would watch his property while he went to the Union to get something to eat. She agreed to watch his property. The UT student left and returned approximately twenty minutes later to find that the Asian female was gone and his large black Jansport backpack had been stolen. Backpack contained assorted papers, a biology book, calculus book, two volume II reference guides for a MIS311F class and a calculus study guide. The Asian female was described as college age, 5'6", 110 pounds, with black highlighted shoulder length hair. Subject was last seen wearing a t-shirt, pants, and sandals. Loss value: $406.00.
San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street
Occurred between 9-24-02 at 4:30 p.m. and 9-26-02 at 5:00 p.m.
Burglary: A gold diamond and sapphire tennis bracelet was stolen from a secured dormitory room that is located in the south tower, on the first floor. The bracelet had been placed in a cup, covered over by other objects and placed in a chest of drawers. Loss value: $1,500.00.
San Jacinto Residence Hall, 309 East 21st Street
Occurred between 9-25-02 at 4:30 p.m. and 9-26-02 at 9:00 a.m.
Criminal Mischief: Three pieces of furniture, that were located in the lobby area by the front desk, were found damaged. A brown leather love seat's armrest was separated from the chair frame as if someone had pushed against it with their feet while sitting in it. A red cloth settee style chair with wooden arms had a one inch "B" carved into right wooden arm along with two six inch long scratches. Another red cloth settee style chair with wooden arms had a four inch figure of a women carved into the right wooden arm. Repair cost: $400.00.
Union Building, #4 West Mall
Occurred on 9-26-02 at 10:05 a.m.
Criminal Trespass: A contracted food service worker refused to leave the building after his employment was terminated. Subject began to interfere with employees who were trying to work. Subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning.
Townes Hall, 727 East Dean Keeton
Occurred over the last month.
Forgery: A non-UT subject was picked out of multiple UT Police photo lineups as the subject who forged over thirty bank checks at several local businesses. The bank checks had been in a backpack that was stolen from a third floor office on 8-23-02.
